Gaasperplas; The hidden treasure of Amsterdam situated between Weesp & Abcoude,

Gaasperplas is a (w0)man made lake it was created to serve 
the Floriade a flower exhibition and the building of the Bijlmer, that took place in this area in the 1980s.
You can still find traces of this, eccentric trees, gardens, plantations creations are reminiscent
of a beautifully landscaped decor of the Floriade at the time.
Walking around the lake is an hour’s walk you can also bike, kajak swim or sail the lake.
In the summer, in the area near the metro stop, you will smell many barbeque smells and you
will find children and bathers playing across the street at play paradise Ballorig, you can also
surf, sail and canoe.
There is even a separate area for nude recreation!
A little further on there is the Prince Willem-Alexander horse riding school and the Gaasperplas
campsite, there is a tennis court and yes, yoga classes can be followed at the lake!
The location is a 10-minute walk from public transport, which takes you to the center in 20
minutes.
The Amsterdam Arena, the Heineken Music Hall, the Ziggo Dome and the AMC are all a
ten-minute bike ride away.
The small villages such as Weesp, Abcoude Loosdrecht, and Driemond are also easy to find
for cyclists.
You can also rent a bike here for 10 euro a day, borrow a few roller skates or a tennis racket.
